Follow the below steps in order to apply for OCI:

1. Create an account (Register yourself) on SGIVS Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website. Click Here to register.
2. Login to the Indian Government's Online OCI Services portal. Follow these steps:
1. Select the type of service required
2. Complete the application online (Part A and Part B).
3. Upload documents (self-attested), photograph, [not less than 51x51 mm with 80% coverage of face, light color background (not white), without border, front view, minimum dimensions are 200 x 200 pixels and maximum dimensions are 900 pixels x 900 pixels] and signature [in case of minors who cannot sign, left-hand thumb impression is required]. Photograph and signature must be in JPEG/JPG format with max size 200 KB.
3. Book your appointment online at SGIVS Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website. You can choose a convenient date and time to visit the SGIVS ICAC for your application submission. Click Here to book your appointment online.  
4. Ensure that you carry all your documents, exactly as per the "Documents Checklist" section. 
5. Visit the SGIVS ICAC, as per your jurisdiction. The address and location of the ICAC will be clearly mentioned in the appointment letter. 
6. Kindly ensure you reach SGIVS ICAC 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. 
7. Submit your application and deposit your fees at SGIVS ICAC. You can check the fee for this application under the "Fee Details" section.
8. While your application is in process, you can track your application to know the current stage of your application process. Click Here to track your application online.

General Guidelines

• All the relevant/uploaded copies are to be attached along with application.
• Photograph (3nos) to be affixed on the application should be of square shape of size not less than 51x51mm (with 80% coverage of face) with light background (not white) with front of persons head and shoulders showing full face in middle of the photograph.
• The applicant should be ordinarily resident for more than 6 months.
• Other Nationals (for category II given below) has to produce a copy of date and method of acquisition of present Nationality.
• If the parents are divorced, court order of dissolution of marriage, which specifically mentions that the legal custody of the child is with the parent, who is applying for OCI Card. If the court order is in any foreign language, translation in English or Hindi by an authorized translator is to be enclosed.
• In case of Canadian National
• Landing paper / Work permit of applicant/ sponsor
• Interview is mandatory for Spouse based application

Conversion of OCI in lieu of PIO card

• Valid passport of the applicant
• Valid PIO card of the applicant

For Omani / Other Nationals of Indian Origin

• Duly filled in application with current passport copy valid for more than 6 months.
• Copy of Previous Indian passport of the applicant.
• Surrender / Renunciation Certificate if applicant obtained Nationality after January 2010

On basis of Indian Parents / grandparents / great grandparents

• Duly filled in application with copy of current passport valid for more than 6 months.
• Birth Certificate issued by competent authority from the country where the child was born. In case birth certificate is issued from foreign authority, it has to be Apostle or endorsed by the concerned Indian Mission abroad.
• Copies of Indian passport or OCI card of parents /grandparents.

On the basis of Spouse of foreign origin of citizen of India or Spouse of foreign origin of OCI cardholder)

• Registered marriage certificate. Completion of two years of marriage is mandatory.
• Copy of Indian passport of the Spouse with the applicants name endorsed.
  ( In case of spouse of an Indian citizen).
• Copy of valid passport of the spouse or copy of the OCI card of the spouse.
  

 

Note: If any additional documents is required based on the application, the applicant have to provide the same.
